The department of Mathematics (DoM) was established in the year 2008 to teach mathematics to the students of Electronics and communication, Electrical and electronics, Computer science, Information Science and Mechanical Engineering branches.
The D0M provides fundamental knowledge of Mathematics and its applications to engineering students and strives hard to bring out competencies in young engineers through various co-curricular activities in the forum of basic sciences.
The DoM has been encouraging and motivating the students for their excellent academic performance by awarding the distinct students in the institution by using the endowment amount given by the donor Dr. K S Chandrashekar, who is a well-known author of Engineering Mathematics textbooks.
The DoM has a faculty strength of 4 members (1 Associate Professor and 3 Assistant Professors). Two of them have a doctoral degree and one is pursuing a doctoral degree. The department is recognized as one of its research centres by the VTU during 2017. Currently, three students are pursuing a part-time Ph.D program under the guidance of Dr. Raju D S in the field of Geometric Function Theory and one student is pursuing a part-time Ph.D program under the guidance of Dr. Sumithra in the field of Graph Theory. The thrust areas of research of the department include Geometric Function Theory and Graph theory.
