NIEIT IEEE student branch

An IEEE Student Branch provides opportunities to meet and learn from fellow IEEE Student and Graduate Student Members and engage with professional IEEE members locally. An active IEEE Student Branch can be one of the most positive elements of our academic career, offering programs, activities, and professional networking opportunities that build critical skills outside of the classroom.

Objectives of IEEE SB

An IEEE Student Branch gives students a community of peers, and a connection to faculty and industry professionals who drive innovation in countless technical fields. Student involvement in Branch activities, whether special projects, social and technical meetings, outreach programs, conferences, local Section or Regional opportunities, etc. can help develop a record of accomplishment and capabilities beyond the norm.

  1. Opportunities to network on a local level
  2. Obtain funding for events, projects, and activities
  3. Develop projects and obtain sponsorship based on your IEEE affiliation
  4. Receive support for hosting professional awareness programs

Connect with other like-minded student groups to advance the IEEE mission

Student Branch Technical Chapter

A Technical Chapter at Student Branch is local link to the valuable resources available from IEEE and its many Societies and Councils. There must be a current, active Student Branch at your school, in order to form a Student Branch Technical Chapter. With above objectives in mind at NIEIT IEEE SB was started in year 2013. Several activities were being conducted under this student chapter. Very popular activity was MASTER TRIVIA a intercollegiate quiz competition conducted in the years 2013, 2015, 2017. NIEIT WOMEN CELL (CICC) in association with IEEE students chapter Mysuru sub section organized webinar on “Women Health Issues and Remedial measures” on 10th April 2021 at 11.00am for the women staff and students of NIEIT.  The resource person of the event was Dr. Chinthana Patkar who is anaesthesiologist and freelance consultant, Mysuru.

The resource person created awareness about the health issues faced by women at various stages of women’s life.  she dealt with a broad spectrum of issues related to women reproductive health starting from puberty stage at about  10-12 years  until menopause at about 45-50 years of age.  Her talk was mainly focused on the major issues reported during last 5 years such as PCOS, endometriosis and menopause. She highlighted the symptoms, difficulties, reasons for these issues.  She also suggested few regulatory diets and regular exercises to overcome them.

She mentioned that, every issue faced by women is unique by itself.  It will be a great task to understand women and her health issues unless she opens up and discusses issues with support groups like friends, relatives and peer group.

She also mentioned the importance of educating young girl regarding the issues, and also gender sensitization in schools and colleges. The session was interactive and it followed a question & answer.  Around 50 participants attended the program.
