The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 2013 offering an undergraduate program, affiliated to VTU, Belagavi and recognized by AICTE. Presently the department offers one undergraduate program leading to a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and two post-graduate programs leading to masters and doctoral degrees in Mechanical Engineering.
The department comprises of self-motivated, dedicated, well qualified and experienced faculty members, technical staff and state-of-the-art laboratories. Mechanical Engineering Consortium (MEC), a students’ organization within the department organizes various technical events related to mechanical engineering and allied disciplines. The department is recognized as a “Research Center” by Visvesvaraya Technological University.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers both Undergraduate and Post-graduate programmes of a duration of four and two years each.

Recognition as a VTU Research Centre in 2017-'18 and is now offering M.Sc. Engineering by Research and PhD programmes. Dr. A V Suresh and Dr. Hemanth R are approved Research Supervisors from VTU. The faculty members of the department are actively involved in research work in the areas of Composite Materials, Robotics and Industrial Automation, Industrial Management, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.

The Mechanical Department has a Robotics Lab under the e-yantra lab setup initiative of IIT Bombay, a project funded by MHRD, Government of India, which is proposed to be developed as a Centre of Excellence.
