The Electronics and Communication Engineering department was started in the year 2008 with an intake of 60. Electronics and Communication Engineering plays a significant role in multidisciplinary fields facing ever growing challenges and needs of a modern society. The main aim of the department is to produce graduates with strong fundamental knowledge in electronics and communication domain to serve the industry, society and research.

The Department has highly competent faculty with experience in industry, academia and research. We provide interactive class rooms and laboratories with latest equipment for students to experiment and explore. The department is equipped with seven laboratories with dedicated technical staff. The programs are taught based on outcome based education with a vision to impart quality education to students to fulfill their goals and pursue higher education.

To create learning ambiance, the department conducts student development programs, subject expert talks, seminars for students. The curriculum encourages students to learn subjects through labs, usage of software tools. Department’s student association “CRYPTECS” is a platform to showcase their talents and active in organizing technical events activities like circuit rigup contest, miniproject exhibition, industrial visits, sports and cultural activities.

The department is working towards an NBA accreditation

The department has signed a MoU with:

  • Texas Instruments, Bengaluru on September 22 nd 2015 for the benefit of both faculty and students. This Memorandum of Understanding is proposed to establish a Teaching Lab  using Analog System Design Kits at NIE Institute of Technology.
  • Advanced Electronics System, Bengaluru on April 25 th 2016. The formal event of MoU signing was presided over by Sunil T Shambhatnavar, General Manager, Advanced Electronics Systems.
  • RTTC, BSNL, Mysuru on 3rd September, 2016. NIE IT in collaboration with the Regional Telecom Training Centre, BSNL, Mysore proposes to establish an Advanced Wireless Lab to enable students to carry out R&D in various technologies of wireless communication such as Wi-Fi, WiMAX, Gi-Fi and Li-Fi to provide m2m communication to control various devices remotely.
  • A project by Chethan D, Arunkumar and Anish Melkote of the 2012-'16 batch was selected by Texas Instruments  in the company's innovation challenges contest.  The team reached the semi finals. Another  project by Jayasimha, Kadambari, Venkat Raman of the 2011-'16 batch was also selected which reached the quarter finals.
